Obituary for Warren G. "Hoot" Deacon

MONTE VISTA –Longtime Monte Vista resident Warren “Hoot” Deacon died January 17, 2013 at the Colorado State Veterans Center at Homelake at the age of 91.
Hoot was born in Glenwood, Iowa the son to H.E. “Mike” Deacon and Jane Burson Deacon. He married his wife Betty Roberts on January 1, 1951 in Alamosa and she preceded him in death January 1, 2013.
Hoot was a World War II Army veteran. He saw service in France, Germany and Belguim. At the end of the war he left the Army as a Corporal.
Hoot started the family business Deacon Insurance in 1963 and worked in Insurance until his retirement in 1974. In his younger years Hoot enjoyed fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed working in his yard and took great pride in keeping it as nice as possible. Hoot was a 32nd degree Mason through the Monte Vista Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his children Max (Karen) Deacon of Monte Vista, Mike (Vickie) Deacon of Eagle, CO and Tracy (David) Price of Phoenix, Arizona; seventeen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Warren’s parents, his wife and daughter Karen David all preceded her in death.
Cremation was selected and a private family service will be held at a later time. Contributions in his memory are suggested to the Colorado State Veterans Center at Homelake.
Rogers Family Mortuary of Monte Vista is in care of the arrangements.
