Obituary for Virginia Murr

Longtime Valley resident, Virginia Murr, 91, passed away on July 6, 2013 at the San Luis Care Center in Alamosa. She was born on October 23, 1921 in Leavenworth, Kansas to Albert Knapp, Sr. and Aletha Oliphint Knapp.
Virginia married Charles Henry (C.H.) Murr on February 24, 1940 at Leavenworth, Kansas. She worked nearly 30 years for Rio Grande County ending her career as Deputy County Clerk and Recorder. She enjoyed drives through the mountains, watching and listening to cardinals singing, and spending time with family. She always put others ahead of herself and was always willing to help friends or neighbors.
She is survived by brother, Albert (Bertha) Knapp, Jr. of Bonner Springs, Kansas; children; Rod (Sue) Murr of Alamosa, Aileen (late Johnnie) Gardner of Alamosa, and Arleen (Keith) Henderson of Waleska, Georgia; as well as grandchildren; Pam (Will) Williams, John (Katherine) Murr, Michelle (Sammy) Simmons, and Melanie (John) Stephan; great grandchildren; Kyle and Jason (Amanda) Williams, Little John Gardner, Jonna and Mandy Murr, Jay and Sara Grace Simmons; and great great grandchildren Lexie and Jaelynn Williams.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charlie, two brothers, two sisters and one son-in-law.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday July 13, 2013 at Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday July 12, 2013 at Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. Interment will follow services in the San Luis Valley Cemetery in Monte Vista.
