Obituary for Steven William Myers

Valley resident Steven William Myers, 62, passed away Monday, August 10th, 2015 in Center, Colorado.
Steve was born January 8th, 1953 in Monte Vista, Colorado to Robert Myers and Bernice Myers. Steven married Dorothy J. Parrish on February 13th, 1994 in Saguache, Colorado.

Steve owned and operated a Certified Potato Seed Farm and grew his seed potato business throughout the years. He lived life to the fullest and with passion. In his spare time he could be found dabbling in woodworking, working on and collecting cars, guns and numerous other collections. Earlier on he was an avid outdoorsman, climbing the fourteeners, skiing and was a pilot and enjoyed flying his own planes.

Steve sat on boards for the Adams State Foundation, the Colorado Water Commission, SLV Research Committee and the Colorado Certified Potato Seed Board as well as the Colorado Ag Leadership program. He was named a Colorado Seed Potato Grower of the Year. Steve funded many scholarships for ASU and other schools and was currently serving on the La Puente Board.

He is survived by his parents Robert and Bernice Myers; his wife Dorothy J. Myers of Alamosa; his first wife and mother of his children Cynthia (Ron) Chapman of Alamosa; his children: Jared Myers of Center, and Brandi Sheeley of Alamosa, Amanda Rae (Bradley Athmer) Myers of Gilbert, AZ; Nicholas (Jennifer) Miller of Columbia, Missouri, Nolan (Kalee) Miller of Alamosa, Andrew (Elizabeth) Miller of Tucson, AZ, Ashley Myers of Ft. Collins, CO, Renee Myers and Madison Myers, both of Alamosa; his grandchildren Paige and Bowen Myers, Peyton and Austin Athmer, Zoé and Gavin Miller, Shea and Anna Chavez-Miller; his sisters Linda Haverland of Littleton, CO, Janet Lee Kuntz of Center; his brother John Myers of Center; as well as his nieces and nephews Brian, Kara, Janel, Daniel, Stacey and Megan; and cousins and five great nieces and nephews.

Steve is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his brother-in-law Jack Kuntz.

Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Contributions in his memory are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
