Obituary for Ronald Louis Green

Longtime and well known Alamosa resident, Ronald L. Green passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the SLV Health Regional Medical Center. Ron was born in Alamosa March 27, 1939 to Loretta Gorzinski and Sylvester Green. He graduated from Alamosa High School in 1957 and later attended a business school in Denver. He married Charlene M. Andre August 6, 1960 at the First Methodist Church in Alamosa.
Ron worked as an Electrical Contractor and was part owner of Green Electric for many years. He was a Volunteer Firefighter for 25 years, retiring as Chief, and was currently employed in the Alamosa County Assessor’s Office as an Appraiser. Ron also served on the Alamosa City Council for many years. He enjoyed working with wood and built many things for his family in his shop.
Ron is survived by his wife Charlene Green, Alamosa; daughter Deborah Morgan, son-in-law Rodney Morgan, Gypsum, CO; son Brian Green, daughter-in-law Taralu Green of Tucson, AZ. Grandchildren Racheal Morgan (Cassidy Richards) of Eagle, CO, Matthew Morgan of Fort Collins, CO and Amanda Morgan of Gypsum, CO. Three great-grandchildren Reygan, Kaylie and Hunter.
Also surviving are brothers-in-law John E. Andre, Robert (Wilma) Andre, Howard Andre, sister-in-law Bertie (Travis) Smith and many nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jack and parents-in-law John and Grace Andre.
A Visitation will be held Monday, May 5, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Alamosa. Interment will follow services in the Alamosa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice del Valle in care of the funeral home.
