Obituary for Rodney Bernard Bolt

Rodney Bernard  Bolt
Alamosa resident Rodney B. Bolt went to be with his Lord in the early morning hours of July 12, 2016.

Rodney was born to Richard and Johanna Bolt on May 15, 1937 in Harrison, South Dakota. He married Bonnie Van DenOever on December 29, 1961.They spent 54 years together and to this union 7 children were born.

Rod was a farmer mechanic, contractor and worked for Adams State College and retired from C.D.O.T. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sports, square dancing and bowling. He was a member of the Alamosa Christian Reform Church.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie of Alamosa, his children Julie (Dave) Smith of Thornton, Colorado, Lowell (Amy) Bolt, Leon Bolt, Daren Bolt, Lynn (Chad) Liddell all from Alamosa, and Kristi Bolt of Eaton, Colorado, his 13 grandchildren Michael Smith, Dustin Bolt, Elisa Blacksmith, Tara Bolt, Chet Corzine, Shianne Bolt, Andrew Bolt, Blake Corzine, Darby Bolt, Chloe Bolt, Colton Liddell, Kami Corzine, and Kyler Liddell, his 3 great-grandchildren Kash and Jaxon Smith and Leyna Blacksmith, his brothers Jim Bolt and Tom Bolt, his sisters Delores Garman, Joan Van Gorp and Marcia Rus as well as several brothers and sisters-in law and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, his son “Robbie” Bolt, his granddaughter Natasha Smith, 2 brothers-in-law Ronald Garman and Ronald Van DenOever and sister-in-law Elaine Van DenOever.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday July 18, 2016 at the Alamosa Christian Reform Church. A visitation will be held on Sunday July 17, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. Interment will follow services in the Alamosa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Alamosa Christian Reform Church in his memory.
