Robert (Bob) Louis McCullough died June 2, 2016 at the age of 91 in Alamosa, Colorado. He was born in Sterling, Colorado to Robert J McCullough and Olga Eversman McCullough on August 25, 1924. He attended school in the small Northeastern town of Ovid, Colorado. As most young men of the times, he served his country in WWII in the U.S. Army, which took him to primarily China, Burma and India Theatre. After the war, Robert attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota, worked in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Ovid CO and Englewood, Colorado, as an electrician. His sister Elaine McCullough (Lavoie) introduced him to her CU roommate Frances Worley (daughter of Frank P and Iola M Worley of Monte Vista.) After marrying Frances, on April 8, 1950, they seized the opportunity to leave the city and start farming with Frank P and Iola M Worley in the Sargent community in 1951. There he began his lifetime career of raising potatoes and various grains. Their big success came when he and his father-in-law Frank Worley founded Worley and McCullough Incorporated, a potato warehouse, and became potato shippers. Bob and Fran have three children Lynn A McCullough (Monte Vista), Julia A McCullough Griffith (Denver), and James M McCullough (Monte Vista).

Bob loved the outdoors and the satisfaction of growing crops. He often took his family to the mountains to explore 4-wheel drive roads, fishing, snowmobiling and waterskiing. Flying airplanes was a passion and even had a runway along- side their home. He was a member of the Monte Vista Masonic Lodge #73 and involved in the Shriners. He attended First Presbyterian Church in Monte Vista.

Robert is survived by his wife of 66 years Frances M. Worley McCullough, his children Lynn (Shirley) McCullough, Julia (Dr. Jeffery White) McCullough Griffith and James (Susan) McCullough, his grandchildren Dr. Lindsey (Noah) McCullough Paulson, Jeffrey (Holly) McCullough, Scott Griffith, Derek (Aaren) Griffith, Erin (Chester) Hatten, Cami McCullough, Steven McCullough and Jason McCullough, his great grandchildren, Scarlett, Jack, Bradley, Kollyn and Colter, his sisters, Elaine Lavoie and Eleanor Herbert as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Edith McCullough.

A Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday June 8, 2016 at The First Presbyterian Church in Monte Vista. Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church and may be made in care of the funeral home office.
