Obituary for Robert O. Bailey

Sanford resident Robert O. Bailey, 82, ended his long courageous battle with cancer on February 12, 2014, holding the hand of his loving wife of 58 years, Anita Bailey. Robert is the oldest of six children. He was Born to Ira Bailey and Della (Jack) Bailey in Downing, California on March 4, 1931. His siblings are Walter Lee (Sue) Bailey, Ira Dale (Shara) Bailey, Leona (Denny) Cunningham, Bonnie (Jack) Boden and Edna Stowell.
In his youth, the family returned to the Sanford area where he graduated from Nortenville School along with his cousin Robert Jack, the only two graduates that year. Robert is a veteran of the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1954. He married Anita Bailey. They had seven children, Lour Lee (Jim) Hartman, Doris Ann (Bob) Garcia, Gregory Bailey, Kim Bailey, Gary (Elizabeth) Bailey, Robert “Buddy” (Robin) Bailey and Dellana (Fred) Mote.
Robert worked for the D&RGW Railroad. Later he worked for John Mansville Perlight until his retirement. His hobbies included hunting and fishing, fishing and hunting. He worked faithfully in all of his church callings all of his life.
He is survived by his five siblings, six children, sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, sons; Gregory Bailey, Fritz Stock and his son –in-law Robert Garcia.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday February 19, 2014 at the Sanford Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints Church. A visitation will be held prior to the service on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church in the Relief Society Room. Burial will follow services in the Sanford Cemetery.
