Bountiful – Lifetime Valley resident Richard William Gibson, 75, passed away on March 5, 2016. He was born on May 14, 1940, in Romeo, Colorado to Fred T. and Elva Gibson.
Richard grew up in Bountiful. He graduated from La Jara High School. Richard married Nancy Lee Clements in Taos, New Mexico, on August 21, 1959. They shared many happy years together. He owned and operated Gibson Service and Phillips Trucking. Following Nancy’s death, he married Shirley Wriston in 1995 in Creede, Colorado. They enjoyed twenty years of marriage. Richard enjoyed being out on the lake in his boat with his family and friends, fishing and water skiing. Richard also enjoyed visiting Buffalo Thunder in New Mexico where he had many friends.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Gibson of Bountiful, his children, Rodney (Audrey) Gibson of La Jara, Kim (John) Espinoza of La Jara, and Tamberly (Dale) Lashley of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Step Children; Teresa (John) Wriston of Reno Nevada and Rick (David) Wriston of Phoenix Az. His grandchildren, Nicole Espinoza, Jason Espinoza, Darby Gibson, Randy Gibson, Billy Lashley, Laci Lashley, Amanda Ekland, and Alexis Wriston. He is also survived by his siblings, Fred O. Gibson of La Jara and Marjorie (Paul) Reed of Sanford, sister-in-law, Margie (Craig) Mortensen, Craig, CO, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Nancy.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at the La Jara Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial will follow the service in the La Jara Cemetery. To express condolences, please visit www.rogersfunerals.com
