Association. He also served as Mayor of Manassa and as a member of the North Conejos School Board. Jack served as Scout Master of Troop 273,where, under his leadership, l8 boys attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Jack loved music and was a talented musician. He was a member of the Sowards Orchestra, a popular dance band that played throughout the area for 25 years. He had a good bass singing voice and sang in quartets and choirs throughout his life.

Jack served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As a young man, he served for 2 ½ years in Mexico, where he learned Spanish. He later served a mission with his wife in the Porto Portugal mission, where he learned Portuguese. Jack and Coral were temple workers in both the Denver Colorado Temple and the Albuquerque New Mexico Temple. Jack accepted many church callings and served in various leadership positions.
