Former Mosca resident and Socorro, New Mexico resident Raymond David, 77, passed away Thursday, August 6th, 2015 at his home in Socorro New Mexico.

Raymond was born September 29th, 1937 in Del Norte, Colorado to Merle David and Ila Mae Crown David. Raymond married his wife of 57 years, Mary Ellen Anderson on September 29, 1937 in Center, Colorado.

Early in his working career, Raymond worked for several years for Mountain Bell while in New Mexico. They moved back to the valley in 1971 and farmed in the Mosca area until his retirement in 1998. Following his retirement he and Mary Ellen spent much of their time in Socorro, NM. Raymond was a hard worker and took great pride in his work as a farmer.

In his spare time, Raymond loved to fish. He also enjoyed wintering in Arizona. While spending time in Arizona he hiked for many miles throughout the mountains and desert. Raymond also enjoyed vegetable gardening and really enjoyed raising green chili and numerous other vegetables, he was known to have quite a green thumb.

He is survived by his Wife Mary Ellen David of Socorro, NM; his children Mark (Kathy) David of Del Norte, Gary David (JoDee David of Louisville, TX) of La Jara, Lanny (Stephani) David of Fort Collins, Tammy (Randy) Wright of Alamosa and Amanda Stagner of Sanford; his brothers and sisters: Jack David of Gunnison, Betty Leckner of Palisade, CO, Lila David of Grand Junction and Joyce Hatch of Montrose; as well as 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law Victor (Mildred) Anderson, his brothers Robert David, Frank David, Don David, Charlie David and his sister Doris Laycock.

A visitation will be held from 8:30 am until 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 11th, 2015 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. Following the visitation a Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 12th, 2015 also at the funeral home. Cremation will follow services.
