Obituary for Pauline Velasquez

Del Norte resident Pauline Velasquez, 80 went home to be with her Eternal Father June 24, 2013 after a short fight with cancer.
She was born June 20, 1933 in Hillside, Colorado to Tom and Cordelia Chavez. Pauline loved her family and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and a loyal friend. Her hobbies included spending time with her family, listening to Spanish music and especially traveling with her husband to play bingo. Pauline was also a member of Our Lady Holy Name of Mary Legion. She will always be loved and greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
Pauline is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Geraldine Velasquez, and her siblings, Jake Chavez, Evelyn (Tito) Franklin, Pete Chavez and Victoria (Sam) Valdez, as well as her brother in laws, Eddie Franklin and Manuel Archuleta.
Survivors include her husband of 56 wonderful years Herman “Curly” Velasquez of Del Norte, children; Tomas Velasquez of Alamosa, Donna (Anthony) Gallegos of Brighton, Colorado and Steve Velasquez of Del Norte, four grandchildren; Derrick Velasquez, Donovan Velasquez, Cara Gallegos and Brooke Velasquez as well as five great grandchildren, her siblings; Elaine Franklin of Center, Georgiania (Jim) Warren of Aurora, Grace (Wayne) Garcia of Hooper, Rose (Eloy) Franklin of Pueblo and Judy Archuleta of Pueblo and sister in law Marcella Chavez of Monte Vista, three brother in laws Climaco (Rita) Velasquez of South Fork, Nelson (Vicky) Velasquez of Monte Vista and Bill Velasquez of Del Norte as well as many, many wonderful nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
A Rosary will be held Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 7:00 P.M. at the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Del Norte and Services will be on Friday, June 28, 2013 also at the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Del Norte at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow at the Del Norte Cemetery. Contributions are suggested in her memory to the Juniper Village in Monte Vista and may be made in care of the funeral home office.
