Obituary for Paul Thurel Zimmerman
La Jara resident Paul T. Zimmerman, 87, passed away peacefully in La Jara, CO on November 21, 2018. Paul was born July 11, 1931 in Belvidere, Tennessee to Herman and Sarah Zimmerman.
He graduated from Castle Heights Military School and served in the United States Army from 1960-1962 and was honorably discharged. Following his time in the Army, Paul took a job with El Paso Natural Gas Company and retired after 30 years. He then took a job in Budville, New Mexico with Coronado Trading as a Wrecker Driver, Mechanic and Parts Salesman. He moved to La Jara, CO in 1997 and served as a Town Trustee. His true passions were four-wheeling in his Toyota Landcruiser and retrofitting and tinkering with nearly anything.
Paul is survived by his family members: Steven Zimmerman, Jacque (Bob) Asher, Sandra (Jeff) Porter, Paula (Chris) Andolsek, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; his companion of 35 years Betty Scott, and numerous extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Doris Gibson and his brother Herman Zimmerman.
