Alamosa resident Paul L. (Pablo) Espinoza, Sr., 63, died October 7, 2013 at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Paul was born in La Jara, Colorado to Abel Espinoza and Margaret (Trujillo) Espinoza on July 3, 1950.
Paul’s primary hobby of expertise for many years was an avid Mechanic and loved working on cars and trucks. He had a great sense of humor and was a very giving and selfless person. Most importantly Paul was a dedicated father and grandfather and his familia always came first.
Paul was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that was in need of assistance. He was the type of person to give the shirt off of his own back to someone who needed it more than him. Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing and gambling in his spare time.
He is survived by his children Paula L. Espinoza of Antonito, Pablito “Hoso” (Jeannine) Espinoza, Jr. of Denver, and Pamela Espinoza of Antonito (Gary Quintana of Alamosa); his grandchildren Xantha, Stefano, Anthony and Lucio Espinoza, GaryLee Quintana and Arianna Cooper; his brothers and sisters Loyola DeHerrera of Los Lunas, NM, Nicholas “Nick” Espinoza of Denver, CO, Ruben (Sigge) Espinoza of Colorado Springs, CO, Albert (Marcella) Espinoza of Arizona, Jane Northrip of Alamosa, CO, Dominic “Cano” Espinoza of Antonito, Julie (Johnny) Montano of Albuquerque, NM, Loretta (Orlando) Gallegos of Conejos, CO and Anthony “Atez” Espinoza of Conejos, CO; his god-children: Nikki Lynn Espinoza, Patsy DeHerrera, Naomi Vasquez, Cerenity Garcia, and Gina Salazar; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends;
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Abel Espinoza, Lucille Espinoza, Lorraine Atencio and Frank “Poncho” Espinoza.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:30 p.m. followed by a Recitation of the Rosary 7:00 p.m. both on Thursday, October 10th at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. A second visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with a Recitation of the Rosary following at 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013 also at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. Burial will follow services in the La Jara Cemetery and a meal will follow the burial.
