Obituary for Patty T. Brink

Life long Monte Vista resident Maria Tomasita Patricia Brink a/k/a Patty T. Brink died peacefully at home in her sleep the morning of June 20, 2014.
Patty was born September 22, 1936 to Juan Andres Naranjo and Regina (Ruybal) Naranjo in Monte Vista, Colorado at the family home.
In May 1954 Patty married Sam A. Cordero, from this union a son was born, Andrew Cordero. Patty and Sam were married for 14 years. Patty married for a second time in February 1970 to Richard L. Brink; they had a daughter, Patricia Dawn Brink. Patty and Richard were married for 20 years.
Patty was a homemaker who loved to spend time with her family and friends, dance, go to aerobics classes, bake and was a self-taught accomplished seamstress. She was also known as the ‘Avon-lady’ as she met and sold to many people thru her 30 year career of sales with Avon. In the early 1990s Patty attended Trinidad State Junior College and later Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado.
Diagnosed with Scleroderma in 1994 and only expected to live 5 - 7 years, Patty continued her love of life and stayed in good spirits and humor up until her passing. She coexisted with this debilitating disease for 20 years; and was a remarkably strong woman.
Patty is survived by her children Andrew Cordero, her daughter Patricia Dawn Brink, her grandchildren Zoë & Paige (Brink) Lovato. In addition she is survived by her brothers: Albino “Sonny” (Wilma) Naranjo, Henry G. “Kiki” Naranjo, Juan Andrew Naranjo and Jose Daniel (Diana) Naranjo; as well as extended family and friends.
Patty was preceded in death by her Parents, a brother Juanito and two sisters; Shirley Ann and Filda Naranjo.
A Funeral Service was selected and will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 26th at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Monte Vista, CO. Interment will follow the services at the Monte Vista Cemetery. Rogers Family Mortuary of Monte Vista is in care of the arrangements.
Contributions are suggested to the Scleroderma Foundation or to Hospice Del Valle and may be made through the funeral home office.
