Lifetime Sanford resident Norman Glen Crowther, 85, passed away at Presbyterian St. Lukes Hospital in Denver, Colorado on May 1, 2016. Norman was born November 24, 1930 in Sanford, Colorado to Alma Leroy and Sarah Iva Crowther. He was married and sealed for time and all eternity to the love of his life, Colleen Holmes, at the Mesa, Arizona Temple on March 19, 1953.

Norman was born and raised in Sanford, Colorado and it showed in his love for basketball. He was part of the first ever Sanford State Championship basketball team and lived to see the first ever Sanford threepeat state championship team. His love of basketball was passed on to his grandchildren, with many of them also being a part of championship basketball teams. Norman was a strong, lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served a two year mission in Chicago, Illinois. He loved meeting new people and spreading the gospel as he served the Lord. Norman passed on his love of the mountains and outdoors to his children and grandchildren. One of his greatest joys was spending quality time hunting and fishing with his family and friends. Another of Norman’s passions was gardening. He loved spending hours out working in his yard and growing some of the most beautiful Zinnias you would ever see. Norman will be remembered for his amazing work ethic. He worked for Grefco for 32 years as a mechanic and always worked as hard as he could from the day he started to the day he retired. Above all else, Norman loved his family. He was a steadfast patriarch and loved each member of his growing family with every bit of his heart and will be missed and remembered by many generations to come

Norman is survived by his loving wife, Colleen Crowther. His children; Shirley (Larry) Buhr of La Jara, Colorado, Bill (Marilyn) Crowther of Aitkin, Minnesota, Maurice (Tammie) Crowther of La Jara, Colorado, and Blake (Kami) Crowther also of La Jara.
