Obituary for Norma Darlene Smith

Monte Vista resident Norma D. Smith, 82, passed away on January 24, 2013 in Alamosa, Colorado. She was born on December 18, 1930 to Elvin and Bertha Eaton in Springfield, Colorado.
Norma worked for Mountain Bell as an operator until the start of direct dial. Following her time as an operator, she worked for Public Service until her retirement. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, playing cards and Sudoku, baking, and was an avid Bronco’s fan.
She is survived by her mother Bertha Eaton of Monte Vista, her children; Linda (Dwayne) Weyers of Monte Vista, Sheri (Dan) James of Monte Vista, Kerry (Vicky) Smith of Canon City and Randy (Nancy) Smith of Grand Junction, along with her sister Margie Boyle and sister-in-law Judy Eaton, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 7 nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Norma was preceded in death by her father Elvin Eaton, her husband Stanley Smith, her brother Garry Eaton and a great grandson.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on January 30, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Monte Vista. Burial will follow in the Monte Vista Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Monte Vista Ambulance in care of the funeral home office at 404 Morris Street, Monte Vista, CO 81144.
