Obituary for Mildred Mary Geiser

Longtime La Veta and Alamosa resident Mildred Mary Geiser, 100, passed away peacefully October 10, 2014 at the San Luis Care Center in Alamosa.
Mildred was born in Lynch, Nebraska the daughter of Charlie and Lola Rauer, on September 28, 1914. She met the love of her life, John Valentine Geiser and they were united in marriage at 4:30 a.m. on January 10, 1934 in Lamar, Colorado. They both returned to work at 5:30 a.m. in the bakery where they were employed following their marriage.
Mildred was a Homemaker and loved reading. She was an excellent cook who made sure that all who visited her never left hungry. Mildred also liked to fish and watch football, especially La Veta High and the Denver Broncos. She followed the sporting events of her children and grandchildren.
Mildred is survived by her children Jim (Leola) Geiser of Alamosa, Jerry (Marie) Geiser of Gillette, WY, J.B. “Chub” (Julie) Geiser of Alamosa, Jack Geiser of Commerce City, CO, Joe (Angie) Geiser of La Veta and Jeff (Nancy) Geiser of Portales, NM, Donald “Moose” (Trudy) Price of La Veta; as well as 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, her eldest son Johnny Geiser, her daughter Judy Miller, her grandchildren Leroy Wright and Jeanette Geiser and her brother Harold Rauer.
A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church in La Veta. Inurnment of ashes will follow services in the La Veta Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to either the La Veta Quick Response Team, P.O. Box 735, La Veta, CO 81055 or to the La Veta Public Library, 310 S. Main Street, La Veta, CO 81055.
