Valley resident Matthew John “Peps” Menges, 33, passed away on October 1, 2016. He was born on August 12, 1983 in Milliken, Colorado to Jerry Dean Menges and Tess Elizabeth Lujan. He spent a few years working at the Conejos ranch where he enjoyed time cooking meals. He also spent some years at Blue Peaks, where his compassion and love of life was a benefit to the people he helped care for. Peps enjoyed drawing, riding and breaking horses, lifeguarding, and music. Above all else, he loved his family, especially his mother and his sisters and brothers. He will be remembered as a compassionate, caring, fashionable and sometimes flashy son, brother, grandson and friend.
Peps is survived by his mother Tess (Kurt) Tirrell of Alamosa, his father Jerry (Rita) Menges of Sanford, his siblings, Jennifer Solis, Sara (Diego) Jose, Amy (Steveo) Menges, Luke (Monic) Menges, Marianna (Luis) Pereyra, Christina (Mark) Turner, Leanna (Saul) Gillespie, , Stacy (John) Plane, Greg (DeAnna) Guymon and Jake Cunningham, Richard (Dawn) Moreland, his nieces and nephews; Josh, Kristin, Sarah and Megan Solis, Benjamin and Jenessa Ward, Emilia and Leticia Jose, Eugene, Loretta and EmmaLei Menges, Daniel and David Pereyra, Chanel and Chaeleah Turner, Trey and Markus Gillespie, Sammy, Justin, Stephanie and Jenny Johnson, Timmy, Ethan and Lucas Guymon as well as his paternal grandfather Gerald Menges.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ben and Ina Lujan, paternal grandmother, Donna Menges.
Cremation was selected and a memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday October 7, 2016 at the River of Life Church in Alamosa.
