Obituary for Margery Ada Sprouse

Margery Ada Sprouse Passed away Oct 31, 2013 in Alamosa, CO. at her home. Margery was born August 9, 1923 to John Ernest Golton and Florence Francis Watson in London, England. Margery’s teen years during WWII in London were part of the past that she often shared with her children. After the war she arrived in America by air to marry her, then to be, husband ,Vincent E Sprouse whom she had meet in London during the war. Vincent went to work as a railroad agent with the D&RGW Railroad and was assigned to live in the mountains of Colorado, at “Fur” in the now Forbes Trinchera area on La Veta Pass. This began a life ‘with the railroad’ and ‘her husband’ that lasted from those years in the 50’s to his retirement in the 70’s and then until the 90’s when her husband died.
Margery will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was a pleasant woman, kind, willing to share with others. She kept her faith, and God at the center of her life. Telling her children to claim the name Christian and look to God as a friend. Her dedication to her husband and children, and her sacrifice to them, were forefront in her mind. She is survived by her son Robert Sprouse of South Fork, daughter Evelyn (George) Rowe of Monte Vista, grandson Samson Sprouse of Oakland CA, and a few nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son, David Sprouse of Monte Vista, and a sister Joan Ethel of England.
Her graveside was held in Alamosa at the Alamosa Cemetery on November 4, 2013. A luncheon followed at the Inn at the Rio Grande with friends and family.
