Obituary for Mara Duran

Denver – Alamosa resident Mara Duran, 16, passed away on June 29, 2014 at the Children’s Hospital in Denver. She was born on February 1, 1998 in Alamosa, Colorado to Craig and Donna Duran.
Mara was a sophomore at Alamosa High School and loved art, horses and especially getting lost in reading. She was an intern in her Grandpas insurance office and during her time there she worked under her special friend Mindy Painter, who spent time with her, teaching her the ropes and helping Mara gain an appreciation for working. She will be remembered as having a big heart and loved everyone she met. She will be truly missed by all of her family and friends.
She is survived by her parents Craig and Donna Duran, her sister Alicia Duran, her paternal grandfather Dell F. Duran, her maternal grandmother Barbara Sisneros, her uncles; Frank Duran, Troy (Sherry) Duran and Dave Sisneros as well as her cousins; Troy Duran, Jr., Derek Duran, Shane Duran, Erika Sisneros and David Sisneros, Jr. as well as many extended family members and friends.
Mara was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother Kay Duran.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday July 8, 2014 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday July 7, 2014 also at the church. Internment will follow services in the Alamosa Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the Conour S.L.V. Animal Shelter and may be made in care of the funeral home office.
