Obituary for Loyde Alvin Kinser

Center resident Loyde A. Kinser, 97, passed away April 20, 2016 at the San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center. He was born March 1, 1919 in Stevens County, Hugoton, Kansas to William Mayfield and Blanche (Cook) Kinser. Loyde married Evelyn Fakler his wife of 50 years. After she passed away he married Charlotte Fike. They were married for 15 years.

Loyde came to Colorado at the age of 16 as a farm laborer. He then farmed in and around the Center Community for a number of years, eventually farming his own ground until he was 80 years old. He loved fishing at Santa Maria Reservoir, both ice and lake fishing. In his later years he enjoyed snowmobiling, cooking and baking. His specialty was baking pineapple cookies.
He was a past President of the Center Kiwanis Club where he was an active member until his illness. He loved to be involved in the Center Community events. He attended the First Baptist Church Center and enjoyed the chit-chat at the Gunbarrel Station.

Loyde is survived by his daughters Shirley (Ron Crown) of Arvada, Colorado, Elaine Ford of Monte Vista, Colorado, his granddaughter Vinda Roberts, his great-granddaughter Misty (Ryan Finical) all of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, as well as other grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his siblings Fern Elam of Alaska, Arlie Kinser of Seiling, Oklahoma, Trulin Kinser of Medicine Lodge, Kansas, Hope Dunlap of Oklahoma, Loene Barry of Durango, Colorado, his extended family Carol Silva, Peggy Godfrey and a caregiver and her son.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Kurt and his siblings Elrie Kinser, Floyd Kinser, Leslie Kinser, Stella Hart, Faye Wheeler, Grace Morford, LeRoy Kinser and Robert Kinser and his 2 wives, Evelyn and Charlotte.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Rogers Family Mortuary in Monte Vista, Colorado. Inurnment will follow at the San Luis Valley Cemetery in Monte Vista, Colorado. Contributions are suggested to the Center Kiwanis Club or the Center Baptist Church in care of the funeral home office.
