Obituary for Louise E. Gray

Creede resident Louise E. Gray, 84, passed away surrounded by her family on April 3, 2013 at her home in Creede.
Louise was born February 17, 1929 in Creede, the daughter to Frank and Wilma Pearl Windsor Powell. She married Viron L. Gray, Sr. in Raton, New Mexico on January 24, 1953. They were married 19 years prior to his death on April 6, 1972.
In her early years she worked at the Hospital in Pueblo and later worked for many years at the Tomkins Hardware Store in Creede. Louise enjoyed coffee with friends, hiking, snowshoeing, x-country skiing, collecting rocks, watching clouds and nature, and best of all living in Creede.
Louise never missed sending a birthday card.
She is survived by her children William (Colleen) Gray of Portland, Oregon and Viron (Johanna) Gray, Jr. of Creede, CO; her grandchildren ReAnn Gray and Cory (Julie) Gray; her brother Johnny Powell of Creede; her sister Betty (Dean) Allen of Great Falls, MT; her nephew Denis Powell, great-nephew Joshua (Katina Lichtenfield) Powell and their daughter Delilah Snow Powell; her nephew David “Jake” (Sally) Powell; her niece Donna Anderson and her daughter Shauna Cooper; her great-grandchildren Justin Perez, Austin, Christian and Cole Gray; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and a host of friends.
Her parents, her husband, her siblings Donald (Dorothy) Powell, Frances Powell Burres and Wilma Powell Greenwood, her great-grandson Marcus Perez, and other family members William F. Powell, William J.B. (Charlotte) Powell, Guy Noble Powell, John (Mabel) Powell, Melvin Powell, Mary Agnes Powell, Thelma Powell, Winifred Powell all preceded her in death.
Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date so that summer people may also attend. There will be announcements as to the date, time and place. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations in memory of Louise Gray to Hospice del Valle, 514 Main Street, Alamosa, CO 81101.
