Obituary for Lloyd Jack Simpson

Alamosa – Longtime Alamosa resident Lloyd “Jack” Simpson, 95, passed away on July 2, 2014 at the San Luis Health Regional Medical Center in Alamosa.
He was born on August 21, 1918 to Clarence Alexander and Maude Debola Simpson in Grinnell, Kansas. He served his country honorably in the United States Army as a young man and following his military service he returned to his love of farming and ranching. He married Wilma “Hildred” Bland on February 23, 1940 in Taos, New Mexico, together they have shared 74 years of marriage. In 1952 they moved to Alamosa where he bought land and began farming and ranching. Jack was a lifetime member of the Alamosa Elks Lodge and enjoyed fishing, traveling, farming and ranching and above all spending the nights dancing from open to close with his wife at the Elks dances.
Jack is survived by his wife Wilma “Hildred” Simpson of Alamosa, his children, Alan Simpson of Alamosa and Ann (Larry) Mitchell of Woodland Park, Colorado, his grandchildren; Cleave (Cathy) Simpson of Alamosa, Natalie (Kenny) Rogers of Antonito, Kevin (Shannon) Simpson of Rockwall, Texas, Cheri (Kevin) Jones of Alamosa, Randy (Jeri) Mitchell of Lakewood, Colorado, Rod (Kari) Mitchell of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Mark (Dori) Mitchell of Woodland Park, Colorado, his great grandchildren; Jared Simpson, Tyler Rogers, Brandon Rogers, Kyle Rogers, Kolton Rogers, Wyatt Simpson, Kaytlyn Simpson, Kasey Jones, Kade Jones, Jon Hass, Tim Hass, Katelyn Mitchell, Joshua Mitchell, Jeremiah Mitchell and Elle Mitchell as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Roy Simpson and his sisters; Mildred Weinhardt, Adeline Hostetter, Vera Ditmore, Dorothy Morrison and Marie Widdifield.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday July 7, 2014 at the Alamosa Elks Lodge. A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday July 6, 2014 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. Internment will follow services in the Alamosa Cemetery.
