Obituary for Larrey Herman Schroeder

Longtime Monte Vista resident Larrey Herman Schroeder, 78, passed away on April 16, 2015 at the Colorado State Veterans Center at Homelake. Larrey was born on June 21, 1936 in Monte Vista to Jack and Clara Rosendahl Schroeder. Following the death of Jack, Clara moved to Missouri to be closer to her family. Just before Larrey’s senior year of high school, he returned to Monte Vista, to be with his father’s family. Following high school, Larrey joined the Army and served his country for two years. In September of 1960, he married Esther Gohr in Monte Vista, Colorado. Larrey went on to attend Adams State College in 1966. Following college, he and Esther owned and operated the Sears Catalog store and most recently The Natural Connection in Monte Vista. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, he was an amateur mechanic and taught himself photography and blacksmithing.
Larrey is survived by his wife Esther Schroeder of Monte Vista, his children, Katie Schroeder of Monte Vista and Ellen (Michael) Mackey of Littleton, his grandchildren, Cas Silva, Kel Silva and Joy Mackey, as well as many cousins and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation was selected and a Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday April 25, 2015 at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Monte Vista. Contributions are suggested to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Monte Vista and may be made in care of the funeral home office.
