Obituary for Kimberlee Kay Howard

Denver – Alamosa resident Kimberlee Kay Smalley Howard, 43, passed away on October 17, 2013 in Denver at University Hospital following a short and intense battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She was born on October 20, 1969 in Alamosa, Colorado to Harvey and Sandy Smalley. Kim graduated from Sangre De Cristo High School in 1988 and went on to attend Americana Beauty College earning her degree in 1989. She has owned and operated numerous salons from 1993 to present with the most recent being the Hi Definition Salon and Spa in Alamosa.
Kim married Gregory Lee Howard on September 24th, 1988 in Alamosa, Colorado. She was a very loving and caring person who would give of herself to help others without asking for anything in return. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children. She was an avid photographer and would take pictures at many of the local sporting events and rodeo’s, which she would place on her Facebook page for other parents to enjoy. Kim was very enterprising; she was a Star Consultant for Scentsy earning her trips to Costa Rica and to Las Vegas. She will be remembered as a faithful and genuine person that never held a grudge and always had a great sense of humor.
She is survived by her husband Greg of Alamosa, her children; Kassandra Kay, Madison Marie, Serina Justina, Chase Matthew and Zane Douglas as well as her parents Harvey and Sandy Smalley, her sisters, Tandi Sharee Bolt and Skeeter LoRee (Mike) Salmans, and her brother Albert Gomez, her grandmother Viola Fern Smalley, her aunt Kay (Dick) Cowan, her uncles Alan (Dixie) Rogers and Gregg (Sandy) Rogers, her nieces and nephews; Dustin Bolt, Kiya Salmans, Keesa Salmans, Danielle (Josh) Hunter, Josh (Stephanie) Thompson, Caleb Thompson, Zachary Thompson, Logan (Ashley) Vargas and Lee Saunders and Kyle Saunders, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Kenneth and Maxine Howard, her brother-in-law, Doug Howard and sisters-in-law Becky (Morgan) Thompson and Kristy (Rodney) Saunders as well as three grand nephews, numerous cousins and many of her cherished clients.
Kim was preceded in death by her grandparents; E.L. and Opal Rogers and Harry Smalley as well as her cousin Doug Cowan.
Cremation was selected and a memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday October 23, 2013 at the Alamosa High School gymnasium. A private family committal service will take place at the Alamosa cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the Kim Howard fund and may be made in care of the funeral home office.
