Obituary for Kenneth Linnemann Hansen

ALAMOSA—Longtime Monte Vista resident Kenneth “Kenny/Joe” Linnemann Hansen, 82, passed away on April 15, 2015 at the San Luis Care Center in Alamosa.

Kenneth was born July 8, 1932, in Mesita, Colo. to Anna Laurine (Lauritsen) and Henrik Linnemann Hansen. His family of seven moved to San Acacio and then to Monte Vista. Kenneth attended St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, was confirmed in 1945 and then graduated from Monte Vista High School in 1949.

Kenneth started work at a young age and in 1958 started Hansen Floor Covering. His work took him across the San Luis Valley, along with other areas of Colorado and New Mexico. His dedication to getting the job done right and his noted attention to detail and precision can be seen in private homes, mountain cabins, businesses, jails and the Trinchera Ranch. To take a break from his hard work, he enjoyed going to the mountains and fishing.
Kenneth is survived by his daughter Susan Hansen (Brian Jones) of Thornton; his granddaughter Krystie of Longmont; his brother Carl of San Angelo, Texas and his sister Elisabeth McCary of San Diego, Calif., along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his son, Keith; his granddaughter Kym; his brother Ernest; his sister Naomi and his parents.

His daughter would like to thank Dr. Majd Kobitary and the staff of Colorado Pulmonary Associates; Dr. Dilsher Nawaz, Dr. Joseph Rainwater and the staff of Aurora Denver Cardiology Associates; Dr. Orlando DeHerrera, PA Catherine McCurdy and the staff of the Monte Vista Community Clinic and Blanca Lozoya for their loving care and concern for Kenneth. Thank you to dear friends Jenny Cooper and Larry and Peggy Schockey for bringing him joy, laughter and great conversations. Thank you to Deb Brewer, Shari DeSautell and Judi Golden for running errands, keeping his home clean and serving him lots of delicious food. A special thank you to Errol Sweetser, a neighbor who was always available to talk fishing, politics or assist Kenny in any and every way, never asking for anything in return for his help.

Cremation was chosen and a remembrance celebration will be held at the Tri County Senior Citizen Center, 311 Washington Street, Monte Vista, from 1-3 p.m., on Sunday, May 17.

In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in his memory to the South Central Colorado Seniors Homebound Meals program, the American Lung Association in Colorado or Lutheran Hour Ministries in care of Rogers Family Mortuary of Alamosa.
