Obituary for Kenneth Ray Chappell

Alamosa – Longtime San Luis Resident Kenneth Ray Chappell, 79, passed away on July 13, 2016 at the San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving friends and family. Kenneth was born on June 18, 1937 in Seymore, Texas but fell in love with the San Luis Valley and Spent the majority of his life here.

Kenneth retired from the telephone company after many years of happily serving the community. When he wasn’t busy working he loved to be in the mountains where he could hunt and enjoy nature. Or you could find him at another place he truly loved, his ranch. His ranch was his favorite place in the world and would spend hours on it just enjoying the peace and quiet that surrounded him there. A constant feature with Kenneth was his dogs. They always held a special place in his heart and would always be near him. Kenneth was also a very artistic person as well as talented musically. His family will always remember the time they spent listening to him play or watching his talented hands craft beautiful and interesting things. In his younger years Kenneth got to see much of the world as he traveled with the United States Army and was proud to be a veteran and for serving a country that he loved.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his Parents and all of his Siblings.

Cremation was chosen and entrusted to Rogers Family Mortuary of Alamosa. A celebration of Kenneth’s life will be held at Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa, Colorado on Monday, July 18, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
