Obituary for Katie Lou Lee

Alamosa Resident Katie Lou Lee, 81, passed away at the Evergreen Nursing home on February 11, 2015. Katie was born to Cecil and Sarah Kimmons in Bratt, Florida on February 21, 1933. She married her Husband of 60 years, Dick Lee, on December 17, 1954 in Prichard, Alabama.
Katie was a happy, loving woman that never missed a moment to enjoy life. She would spend hours outside working in her garden or making flower arrangements for local events. She also loved decorating her home and it wasn’t uncommon to go to her house and see it looking completely different than when you saw it last. She also gained quite a collection of porcelain dolls throughout her life that brought her much joy. Katie truly loved her family and spent every moment she could enjoying time with her children or playing with her five grandchildren and by doing so there was never a moment that they didn’t realize how much they meant to her.
Katie is survived by her husband Dick Lee. Her children, Steve (Dana) Lee of Grantsville, Utah, Denise Marquez (John Sheridan) of Manassa, Kim (Barry) Ketcham of Aurora, Colorado, and Cathy (Cleave) Simpson of Alamosa. Her grandchildren; Jacob Marquez, Brandi Cortez, Jessica Ketcham, Brittany Goering, And Jared Simpson. Her Great Grandchildren, Ashlynn Goering and Annabelle Cortez. Her siblings Gladys (Doyle) Smith, Raymond Kimmons, And Mary Garrett. Her In-Laws, Barbara Salazar, Phyllis (Paul) Melgares, Joe Lee, Emma Martinez and Therese (Victor) Archuleta, as well as numerous other loving family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Sarah Kimmons. Her sister, Anna Ruth Hall. Her Brothers Talbert Kimmons and Edward Kimmons. Her mother and father in-law, Pascual and Mildred Lee. Her Brother in law, James Lee. And her sister in law, Louella Lee
Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Friday February 13, 2015 at The Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa.
