Obituary for Karen Louise McAdams

Fort Garland resident Karen Louise McAdams, 67, died February 12, 2014 at her home in Fort Garland after a long battle with cancer.
Karen was born in Portland, Oregon and was raised by Fred and Bertha Gerres. She married Sonny McAdams in Alamosa, Colorado and they enjoyed more than 17 years together.
Karen worked for many years at Valley Lock and Security. She loved music and enjoyed singing with her husband Sonny. She was a very patriotic woman and supported many different organizations. Karen was a member of the Alamosa Christian Church.
In her spare time, Karen enjoyed crafts, working on genealogy and keeping up with friends and family on Facebook.
She is survived by her husband Sonny McAdams of Fort Garland; her daughter E.J. McKnight of Colorado Springs; her son Robert Hunter (Nicole) of Colorado Springs; her grandchildren Joshua McKnight, Sarah Snow (Brandon), Nicholas Gylling and Brody Hunter; her great-granddaughter Isabelle Snow; her brothers and sisters Donnie Weston of Detroit Lakes, NM, Terry Weston of Las Vegas, NV, Sandie Pruitt of Hawley, MN, Robert (Debbie) Weston of Perham, MN and Janet Peterson of Detroit Lakes, MN; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Her parents and her brother, James Weston, preceded her in death.
Cremation was chosen and a Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Alamosa Christian Church, 410 McQuerry in Alamosa. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org
