Obituary for Juan Senovio "Johnny John" Gallegos

Juan (Johnny, John) Senovio Gallegos, 76, of Bountiful, Colorado, died of natural causes on January 16, 2015 at Parkview Hospital in Pueblo Colorado, surrounded by family. John was born September 19, 1938 on the family ranch in Hot Creek (La Aguita Caliente), west of Capulin, Colorado. He was the thirteenth child born to his parents Miguel Antonio Gallegos III, and Anita Fedelina Valdez Gallegos. Of their thirteen children, only four: Matias Pablo Gallegos (Rose Mestas Gallegos - both deceased), Maria Juana Gallegos Vigil (Pete Vigil Sr. – deceased and surviving), Miguel Antonio Gallegos IV (Effie Le Febre Gallegos – both surviving), and John, grew to adulthood. Being twenty or more years younger than Matias and Mary, John was close in age to and special friends with his oldest niece (Bridget Gallegos) and nephew (Pete Vigil Jr.). John is survived by his wife Betty Gallegos, his brother Michael Gallegos (Effie Gallegos), his brother-in-law Pete Vigil Sr., and numerous nieces and nephews to whom he was a beloved uncle.
Johnny graduated from Capulin High School. He worked for many years as a surgical assistant in California, Florida, New Mexico and Colorado. He also worked in the food service industry for the Marriot Corporation and locally. His final employment in his senior years was at the Family Dollar Store in La Jara, where he made many friends. John was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Parish, Capulin and served as a lector at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in La Jara. John loved to dance, cook, and to spend good times with family, friends and classmates. He was a great friend and caretaker of animals.
Recitation of the Rosary for John will take place at 7 P.M. Friday, January 23, 2015 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Capulin, Colorado. His Mass of Christian Burial will take place also at St. Josephs Church at 1:30 PM Saturday afternoon, January 24, 2015 followed by internment in the Capulin Cemetery.
