Obituary for Josephine Casados

ALAMOSA—Alamosa resident Josephine Casados, 94, entered the gates of Heaven; she met her Lord and Savior and had a joyful and blessed reunion with her soul mate and husband Victor Selestino Casados on January 14, 2014.
Josephine was born May 6, 1919 in Montrose, Colorado to Jose Pena and Pauline Valeria Pena. She married her husband of 75 years, Victor Selestino Casados in Alamosa in 1933.
Josephine was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. In her younger years she took much joy from sitting down her children and grandchildren to share stories with them from times past. Josephine was a spectacular cook, enjoyed sewing, embroidering, antiquing, shopping, and above all enjoyed having visitors. Her family remembers her love of music and the way she would listen and dance around the house. During this time if she had grandchildren around she would let out a little scream or yodel with the music just to have the chance to see her grandkids faces light up in laughter and joy. Josephine was a member of the River of Life Church in Alamosa and truly loved her Lord and Savior. She felt blessed to be able to share the word of the Lord with people she knew and loved. She would bless her grandchildren in there coming and going every chance she got.
Josephine is survived by her children: Emily (Manuel) Cisneros of Alamosa, Amos Casados of San Jose, CA, Toni Vigil of Federal Heights, CO, Anos “Hank” (Lisa) Casados of Parker, and Joel (Angela) Casados of Denver, CO; her daughter-in-law Dorothy Casados of Denver, her son-in-law Dennis Montoya of Alamosa; as well as 25 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 52 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Her parents, her spouse Victor Casados, children: Victor Casados, Jr., Clyde Casados, Arlene Montoya and Joe Casados, her sisters Virginia and Leonarda, her brothers Alejandro, Jose, Abel and Fred, her grandchildren: Joey Casados, Steve Casados, and Lloyd Casados all preceded her in death.
A Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. A Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, January 17, 2014 at the River of Life Assembly of God Church in Alamosa. Interment will follow services in the Alamosa Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Josephine’s memory to the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa, which is in care of the arrangements.
