Condolence: The passing of Big John Graeser marks the end of an era in South Fork. He was the icon of the logging industry that was at one time the heart of the local economy; a lumberjack who stood, in real life, as big and tall as the Hungry Logger statue. I could barely lift the chainsaw he used to fell his trees. What a mountain of a man he must have been. He was a man of few words, meager needs and great humility. Only a small number of people were aware of his unspoken generosity. He had a big heart. South Fork was good to him. He loved this place and reciprocated by giving back more than he received. He has a lot of stars in his crown. What a privilege it was to be his friend.
