Obituary for Jim Boyd Jr.

Longtime San Acacio resident Reverend Jim Boyd, Jr., 83, died October 31, 2013 at his home in San Acacio under Hospice care and surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born on July 4, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri, the proud son of Jim Boyd, Sr., and Elizabeth Briscoe Boyd. He married his bride of 55 years, Annie L. Taylor on November 23, 1957 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Jim served in the United States Army and retired after 20 years in 1968. He transferred to Civil Service and worked as a Mechanic for the Fire Department, retiring in 1993 after 19 years. Following his civil service career he became a Minister and served as Pastor of the San Pablo Presbyterian Church for the past 19 years. He retired from the church on October 6, 2013.
Jim volunteered as a Chaplain for both the Evergreen Nursing Home and the San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center. Jim was ahead of Toastmasters in Alamosa. In his spare time he enjoyed tinkering with his cars, photography and matting photographs. He also liked to fish.
Jim is survived by his wife Annie Boyd of San Acacio; his children Linda P. (William “Bill”) Tyson of Orlando, FL; Jimmy D. (late Belinda) Lemoore, CA; his brothers and sister William C. (Jeannie) Boyd of Richmond MO, Clarence A. Boyd of Kansas City, MO and Corine E. Jackson of Kansas City, MO; as well as six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his sisters Bertha Mae Boyd and Martha Louise Boyd; and his daughter-in-law Belinda Boyd.
A Funeral Service will take place in Kansas City, Missouri 11 A.M. Friday November 8 2013 at Paseo Baptist Church by Rev Charles Briscoe. Interment will follow services in the Forest Hill & Calvary Memorial Park Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri.
