Obituary for Jennie Avelina Lujan

Jennie A. Lujan joined the angels on the morning of November 15, 2014. She was born Genova (Jennie) Avelina to Pablo and Delfina (Roybal) Rodriguez on November 17, 1936 in Antonito, Colorado. She was married to Nestor (Joe) Lujan for 60 years and resided in Saguache, Colorado. Jennie will be remembered for her many years of service at the First National Bank of Center – Saguache Branch, which changed ownership many times during her career. She enjoyed watching the Avalanche and the Broncos, reading, working in her greenhouse; but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Jennie is survived by her husband, daughter Paula Lujan, of Saguache, CO; son Nestor A. (Grace Kushan) Lujan of Westminster, CO; and daughter Jackie (John) Stephens, of Saguache, CO; grandchildren Jason Romero, Zachary Lujan, Jennifer Lujan, Christina Lujan all of the Denver area; Miranda Stephens and Zebulon Stephens, of Saguache, CO; and great-grandchildren Karlie Romero and Jason Romero, Jr. also of the Denver area. She is also survived by her siblings Gloria (Frank – deceased) Ornales , California; Bernice (Ernie) Roybal, Denver, CO; Margaret (John) Garcia, Mogote, CO; Pauline (George) Gregio, Phoenix, AZ; Frank Rodriguez, Alamosa,CO; Carla Brown, Alamosa, CO; Linda (Jerry -deceased) Cisneros, Albuquerque, NM; Viola (Leslee Waggner) Rodriguez, Denver, CO; Anna DeHerrera, Albuquerque, NM; Pauline (Manuel) Cisneros-Koyama, Denver, CO; brother-in-law Lawrence (Epi – deceased) Lujan, Phoenix, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jennie was preceded in death by her parents and brothers David, Leroy, Orlando, and Benjamin Rodriguez and Rubel Jaramillo.
Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held in the summer. In her memory, she wished for everyone to enjoy time with their families. If you wish to make a monetary donation in her memory, she asked you donate to the Ronald McDonald House in Colorado Springs (311 North Logan Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80909) or to a women’s shelter or homeless shelter of your choice. Monetary donations can be made to the organizations directly or to the Rogers Family Mortuary of Monte Vista, Colorado. She is deeply loved and missed!
