Obituary for James Richard "Jim" Pearce

Alamosa resident James “Jim” Richard Pearce, 85, passed away November 14, 2014 at his home in Alamosa under hospice care. Jim was born on August 24, 1929, in Durango, Colorado, to James A. and Kathleen B. Pearce. He was a locomotive engineer whose career with the Denver & Rio Grande Western and Southern Pacific Railroad spanned 45 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus – Durango Council, B.P.O.E. Elks- Alamosa Lodge, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, and a Veteran of the Korean War.
Jim is survived by his wife Vivian, his children Dianna Pearce-Fitzsimmons, Colorado Springs, CO; Mike (Barbara) Pearce, Kingsport, TN; Cheryl (Tony) Trujillo, Salida, CO; Janine Libby (Richard) Vasquez, Rocky Ford, CO; sisters Lillian Martin and Joanne (Charlie) Brennan, and sister-in-law Doris Pearce all of Durango. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Joseph and William.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Amir Obbehat and all of the staff at Hospice del Valle for their exceptional care of Jim.
As per Jim’s request, a private family service and burial will take place. The family requests no flowers or food; however, donations may be made to Hospice del Valle through Rogers Family Mortuary.
