Obituary for Isaac Evan Vialpando

Longtime valley resident Isaac Evan Vialpando, 83, passed away on December 29, 2012 in Alamosa, Colorado. He was born on October 25, 1929 to David and Senovia Vialpando in Chama, Colorado. He married Nellie Duran on June 9, 1958 in Alamosa, Colorado.
Isaac earned a Bachelors of Arts degree and Masters Degree from Adams State College and taught for 20 years in the Alamosa school district. Following his retirement from school he worked as a funeral director for the Rogers Family Mortuary for over 25 years.
He was a 4th degree member of the Alamosa Knights of Columbus Council 2096 and the Rio Grande Assembly Council 2092. Isaac was a very devoted Catholic and was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Alamosa.
Isaac is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nellie Vialpando of Alamosa, his brothers Ross ( Darline) Vialpando of Commerce City, Colorado and Leroy (Brenda) Vialpando of Chama, Colorado, his sisters; Flora and Lucille Vialpando both of Colorado Springs, four nieces, two nephews, sixteen God-children and his best friends Mike and Kathy Rogers of Alamosa.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday January 2, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. A recitation of the Rosary will be held prior to the mass at 10:00 AM on Wednesday also at the church.
