Obituary for Howard Robert Boyd Jr.

Longtime Del Norte resident Howard R. Boyd, Jr., 86, passed away on July 15, 2014 at the Colorado State Veterans Center at Homelake, where he resided for the last four years. Howard was born on May 29, 1928 at Monument Beach, Massachusetts to Howard Robert Boyd and Estelle Emeline Rogers.
After high school Howard enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served during WWII. A longtime resident of the San Luis Valley, he enjoyed the mountains hunting, fishing, picking mushrooms and logging for many years. He took joy in fixing old cars and making them run again.
Howard was an avid reader and never met a crossword puzzle he could not finish. His easy going nature made him a friend to everyone he met.
Cremation was chosen and a remembrance service will be held in August at Homelake. Donations may be made in his name to the Homelake Occupational Benefits Fund at 3749 Sherman Avenue, Monte Vista, CO 81144.
