Obituary for George Reginald Paterson

George Reginald Paterson, 84, originally from Detroit, Michigan, residing most of his life in Annapolis, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, January 11, 2014. At the moment of his passing, he was surrounded by his wife M. Jean Paterson, children, grandchildren and his beloved cat “Max”. George and Jean lived at the Bridge in Alamosa, Colorado for the past two years.
George was the loving father of Rollin Ray Paterson who preceded him in death after serving for four years in the U.S. Army, and Merchant Marines. His fourth grandchild Katerina Paterson passed away in 1999. His second son Michael Lee Paterson is an Emergency Medicine Physician at the Rio Grande Hospital in Del Norte, Colorado. His daughter in law Patricia Anaya Paterson, is a Physical Therapist at Homelake Veterans Center. George’s daughter Jacqueline Marie Paterson, a Speech Language Pathologist, resides in Annapolis, Maryland. George has five grandchildren Jennifer, Aiyana, Michael, Gabriela, and Luke; five great-grandchildren George, Rowan, Sam, Lif and Nathaniel.
George worked in Computer Programming and as a Systems Analyst for many years in both the Federal and State Government. In his spare time, he was devoted to volunteer church service, the Marriage Encounters Organization, and the study of ancient biblical languages.
The Paterson’s are grateful to all of the staff at The Bridge as well as Hospice del Valle.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 pm. Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Bridge at Alamosa. Flowers may be sent to the Bridge or contributions to Hospice del Valle in his memory.
