Obituary for Elizabeth Jean "Betty" Jensen

Alamosa resident Elizabeth “Betty” Jean Jensen, 73, died August 28, 2014 at the San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center in Alamosa.
Betty was born March 31, 1941 in Jerome, Arizona the daughter of James Russell Jensen and Helen Francis McKenzie Garris.
Betty worked for many years as a Teacher in Elementary Education in northern New Mexico. She was a good friend to many at the San Luis Care Center where she resided for several years. While staying at the care center she volunteered in the gift shop, helped deliver the mail and was always willing to assist the staff and residents when needed. Betty loved her cats dearly.
She is survived by her sons David Lawton of New Mexico and John Garris of Kansas; her brother Richard Garris, Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO; her step-father Richard Garris, Sr. of Alamosa, CO and numerous cousins and extended family members.
Her mother Helen and her father James preceded her in death.
A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Alamosa Second Ward Relief Society Room, 927 Weber Street in Alamosa. Interment will follow services in the Alamosa Cemetery. Donations for her services are kindly appreciated and may be made directly at the funeral home office.
