Obituary for Donald Lynn "Don" Busby

ALAMOSA—Longtime Alamosa resident Donald Lynn Busby, 75, died March 1, 2013 at his home in Alamosa under Hospice care.
Don was born January 21, 1938 in Temple, Oklahoma the son of Noel Linden “Lynn” and Modean Burton Busby. He married Camellia Anne Ratcliff in September of 1993; she preceded him in death in August of 2002.
Don attended Adams State College while living in Alamosa and later attended Grand Canyon College in Arizona, studying for Directorship for the Baptist Church. Some of Don’s occupations included a Hotel Manager and Bartender for the Victoria Hotel in Alamosa, which his parents owned and operated before it burned down. He would later work as an Insurance Agent and a Brick Layer. Most of all he spent nearly 35 years in retail working at Levines, Gibsons and JC Penney. He also worked at Blue Peaks and loved working with the residents there and often took them home for dinners and holidays.
Don enjoyed traveling and seeing the countryside. In his spare time he liked to tinker with cars and listen to gospel music. Most of all, Don loved the lord and was an avid studier of theology, reading the bible daily.
He is survived by his children Jeffrey (Patti Powers) Busby, Lisa A. (Jeff) Hendricks and Carrie L. (Kenny) Carpenter, all of Alamosa; his grandchildren Joshua (Katie) and Janell Hendricks, Michelle, Jessica and Stephen Hathaway, and Zachary and Kami Sue Carpenter; as well as his great-grandson Noah Hendricks, the mother of his children Beverly Busby of Alamosa, his best friend Richard Cavalier and his faithful companion for the past 15 years, Winston his poodle.
He is preceded in death by his parents Noel and Modean Busby and his wife Anne Busby.
A Visitation will be held at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa on Wednesday, March 6th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 7th also at the funeral home in Alamosa. Interment will take place on Friday in the Craig Cemetery in Craig, Colorado. Contributions are suggested to Hospice del Valle in his memory and may be made at either the Hospice office at 514 Main St., Alamosa, CO 81101 or at the funeral home office.
