Obituary for David James Duncan

Well known businessman David James Duncan passed away December 28, 2014 at his home. He was born to Mary Webb and the late James Duncan on March 28, 1948 in Denver, Colorado. Dave was an avid traveler, he and his wife Yolanda enjoyed the many different cultures, people and places they visited all over the world. He loved scuba diving, snorkeling and most of all he loved the ocean. One of his greatest passions was photography, especially taking pictures of his grandchildren who were the light of his life.
As the owner of San Luis Valley Title Co and Rio Grande Mineral Title, LLC, Dave helped facilitate many real estate transactions all over the San Luis Valley including the historic work he did for the La Sierra land case in San Luis, Colorado. Dave was a big believer in giving back to the community. He served on the Boards of La Puente and the Boys and Girls Club of the San Luis Valley, and also was a member of the Masons, Elks and the Grizzly Club supporting Adams State College.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Yolanda Duncan, his two sons, Jason (Stephanie) Duncan of Alamosa; Matthew (Stephanie) Duncan of Arvada, Colorado; his four grandchildren Cade, Mason, Samantha and Sydney; his mothers Mary Webb and Susan Duncan, his brothers, Scott Duncan and Mick Fredericks, his brothers- in-law, Tom McGaw, Jim Mann, Fernando Martinez and sisters-in-law, Bernadette (Ron) Lucero and Roberta Martinez, and all of his numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death his father, James Duncan; his sisters Debbie Mann and Susie McGaw; his brother Steve Fredericks; his son Tomas Mondragon, his mother and father-in-law, Amadeo and Pepita Martinez, brother-in-law, Lorenzo Martinez, and sister-in-law, Priscilla Martinez.
A celebration of Dave’s life will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Alamosa Elks lodge at 11:00 a.m.
