Alamosa resident Daniel “Dan” Ray Chambers, 61, went to be with the Lord on September 28, 2015 in Alamosa.

Dan was born on May 7. 1954 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of Clarence and Eula Mae Baker Chambers. He married his wife of 32 years, Eilizabeth Ann Farmer Hines on May 28, 1983 in Kentucky.

Dan served in the United States Marine Corps in the 1970’s just after Vietnam at Camp Pendleton, California and was honorably discharged following his duty. He served his country proudly and was an Expert Rifleman.

Dan was a hard worker and held numerous jobs throughout the countryside as well as in St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands and in Alaska. He was very intelligent and had a love of knowledge and learning. He maintained his growth of knowledge throughout his life. Dan loved the outdoors and especially the time spent in the mountains where he could be found fishing and enjoying nature. While living in Alaska, he loved to fish and catch halibut.

Dan was a very loving and giving person and donated anonymously and helped out when needed. In his spare time he enjoyed watching the Denver Broncos. He never missed a crossword puzzle in the newspaper and enjoyed reading novels.

Dan is survived by his wife Elizabeth “Liz” Chambers of Alamosa; his mother-in-law Lorraine Hines of Alamosa; his nephews Chas and Brad Hines; as well as numerous family, extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Eula, his father-in-law Ralph Hines, his brother-in-law Scott Hines and numerous siblings.

At his request, cremation was chosen and private family services will be held at a later date.
