Obituary for Calvin Douglas Brace

Calvin Douglas  Brace
Alamosa – Alamosa resident Calvin (Doug) Douglas Brace, 61, passed away on March 14, 2016. He was born on August 16, 1954 at the naval base hospital in Corona, California to Donald L. Brace and Lois (Phillips) Brace. Following his birth, and the end of his father’s naval service, the family moved to the San Luis Valley and worked in the Sargents area until 1967 when they moved to Canon City. Following his graduation from high school, Doug was offered a scholarship to play football for Colorado University in Boulder. He played for the Buffaloes and was awarded an Orange Bowl Ring following the 1977 Orange Bowl against Ohio State. He graduated from CU with a degree in Financial Management. Doug enjoyed many endeavors in the financial consulting business which took him on many travels. He enjoyed football, cards, visiting family and good food.

He is survived by his siblings, Doyle Brace, Deniece Cade and Jeniece Schneider as well as numerous nieces and nephews and two aunts.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents.

A special thanks to DaVita dialysis center and Red Willows Transportation services for their care.

Cremation was selected and a private family service will be held at a later time.
