Obituary for Burl Wendell Bedingfield

Del Norte resident Burl W. Bedingfield, 95, passed away on November 22, 2012. He was born on January 19, 1917 in Walters Oklahoma to Grover and Leatha (Barrett) Bedingfield. He lived and worked for the majority of his life in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Burl was an accountant and worked for different companies including hospitals in Oklahoma. Prior to his retirement he worked at Eastwood Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he was a member.
His passion was music, he loved to play the guitar and sing gospel songs. He led the music in many smaller Baptist churches throughout Oklahoma. He was a member of the choir and the men’s choral group – Gloryland Transfer – at his church, Eastwood, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Burl was serving in the Civil Conservation Corp (CCC’s) in Montrose, Colorado when he met and married Martha Feary. They had been married for 62 years when she died.
Burl is survived by his children; Dennis (Sharon) Bedingfield of Buena Vista, Colorado, Beryl (Bill) Cook of South Fork, Colorado and Gene (Shirley) Bedingfield of Tulsa, Oklahoma along with 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren as well as a brother Glenn Bedingfield of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Martha (62 Years) and wife Marie (Sweet) Bedingfield (5 years) and his siblings; Estelle Moss, Elsie Elmore and Grover Bedingfield, Jr.
Cremation was selected. A memorial service will be held for his Colorado family and friends in the Chapel at Casa Illuminaria, 1280 Grand Ave., Del Norte, Colorado on Thursday November 29, at 2:00 p.m.
There will also be a memorial service for his Oklahoma family and friends in January, 2013 at Eastwood Baptist Church, 949 S 91st East Ave., Tulsa, Oklahoma 74112.
