Obituary for Beverly S. Hawkins

Long time Manassa resident, Beverly S. Hawkins, 79 passed away March 3, 2013 under the care of her loving family. Beverly was born on August 18th, 1933 in Manassa Colorado the daughter of Rudolph and Vera Sowards. Beverly held many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She married Roy Hawkins on May 21, 1949 in Taos, New Mexico. They were later sealed in the Denver Temple.
Beverly loved being with her family, they were the light of her life. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, reading, scrapbooking, crocheting, genealogy and she looked forward each year to see the bald eagles and sand hill cranes return to the valley.
She is survived by her children Jack (Toni) Hawkins of Colorado Springs, Vicki Storm, of Missouri, Julie (Jeff) Crowther of Sanford, Tracey (Mark) Hostetter of Colorado Springs and Dan (Aleida) Hawkins of Westminster. She is survived by 16 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Gayla (Ray) Nietsche of Monte Vista. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy, her Mother and Father, her brothers Richard and Lynn, her daughter-in-law Gen and her son-in-law Darrell
A funeral service will be held on March 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Manassa Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Manassa. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at the Manassa Cemetery in Manassa, Colorado.
