Obituary for Beryle Jeanene Vance (Robins)

Longtime Manassa resident Beryle Jeanene Vance, 85, passed away peacefully June 13, 2015 at the San Luis Care Center in Alamosa.

Beryle was born in Walsh, Colorado on December 6, 1929, the daughter to William F. and Clara J. Alley Robins. She married James “Darold” Vance on March 27, 1946. Their marriage was sealed for all time and eternity in the Mesa, Arizona Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 2, 1966. They enjoyed over 69 years together.

Beryle is most remembered for her work as an Elementary Teacher for schools in Antonito, La Jara and Manassa. She worked mostly La Jara Elementary until her retirement after nearly 30 years. Following her retirement, she volunteered in many capacities for the schools, including Title I Reading Coordinator. She knew the importance and value of literacy for students and devoted much of her time to this effort.

Beryle was an active member of the Manassa Second Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and filled numerous callings. She enjoyed genealogy work and co-wrote a book on the Vance family line.

She was always thinking of others and devoted her spare time to needlework, crocheting, quilting, stamping and card making. Beryle loved making things as gifts and always had one to give. Most of her family and friends were the recipients of her many hand made gifts.

Beryle is survived by her husband Darold Vance of Manassa; her children Patricia “Pat” Eileen (Les) Forbes of Ft. Collins, CO, James “Jim” Darold (Donna) Vance, Jr. of Tualatin, OR, Jesse Dale (Renee) Vance of Harrisburg, NE, Virginia Louise (David) Svaldi of Alamosa and Keith Douglas (Patricia) Vance of Alamosa; her grandchildren: Shane, Bradley, Tanya, Heather, Jason, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Rachael, Kassie, Chantine, Fletcher, Alexandra, Dillon, Benjamin and Kaitlyn; 15 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law Barbara Robins of Antonito and Evelyn Carr of Romeo; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, twin children Jean and Jeanene, her brothers and sisters: Bill Robins, Roland Robins, Max Robins and Betty Potts.

Visitations will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 17th at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Manassa and Thursday, June 18th from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the Manassa Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
