Obituary for Bertha L. Evans

Bertha L. Evans, 79, of Safford, entered into rest on Monday, March 18, 2013 at the Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center in Safford. She was born on August 29, 1933 in Bountiful, CO, to Watson S. Wilson, and Rudy Ann Ross Wilson.
Bertha attended school in Albuquerque, NM, where she met and married Max Evans, Sr., on May 21, 1951 in Albuquerque. Max’s career in the military took them all over the world. They settled in La Jara, Colorado before moving to Safford 21 years ago, to take care of Max’s parents. They loved working with Turquoise cutting and polishing it. Max entered into rest on September 26, 2006 in Tucson. Bertha enjoyed raising many children and grandchildren. She was an exceptionally good cook.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (John) LaBato of Albuquerque, NM, Tammy (Brian) Mattfield of Safford, Linda Conway of Goldfield, NV, and Shanda (William) Smith of Safford; sons, Arvell Evans of Safford, and Jeffrey (Paula) Evans, of Safford; a sister, Alice Fringer of Manassa, CO; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and nine other siblings.
A viewing for Bertha will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 25, at Rogers Family Mortuary in Manassa, Colorado. Graveside services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26 at the Old Manassa cemetery.
