Obituary for Berda Romaine Helms

Life long Alamosa resident Berda R. Helms, 82, died February 11, 2014 at her home in Alamosa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lucy and her brother, Walter (Bud) Carsella.
Berda was born in Monte Vista, Colorado on June 29, 1931. She briefly lived in Germany as a young newlywed but returned to Alamosa where she made her life. She retired from Adams State College in 1992 where she worked as a secretary for many years. Berda loved playing the piano and playing cards with her friends. Most importantly, Berda had a very devoted love for the Lord.
She is survived by her sister in law Edith Carsella and her niece Jena (Mike) Kull of Victor, New York and their children Katie, Wyatt and Logan whom she loved and adored.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Alamosa Presbyterian Church. Light refreshments will be served immediately following.
Rogers Family Mortuary of Alamosa is in care of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Adams State University Foundation.
