Obituary for Allen John Welch

Allen John Welch, age 67 of Blanca, CO, passed on Sunday, June 7th after a long battle with Parkinson’s.
Allen was born June 16, 1947 in Morenci, AZ, to Allen Benson Welch and Joyce Heather (Moore) Welch and grew up in the company of his three sisters. He served in Vietnam and in 1972 he married the girl next door and loved her more every year for 43 years.
His most recent position was in the Biomedical Department at the San Luis Valley Medical Center, but he lived many places and had many interests. He was a: Beekeeper, Homebuilder, logger, tree-planter, TV repairman, electrician, carpenter, welder, mechanic, master organic gardener, ore analyst, youth advocate, child of God, husband, father and Papa.
He would go to great lengths to save a dollar but never hesitated to give it away to someone who needed it. He gave his time and money to many different charities and had a passion for leading youth to Christ. He was a founder and volunteer at SEP Rockies youth camp and he had a gift for seeing human need and meeting it.
He is survived by his amazing wife, June Rae Welch of Blanca, CO; his children Mavis Joyce Frazier of Oklahoma City, OK, Amber Welch-Ricks of Melissa, TX, Spice Welch of Seiling, OK and Wilderness Welch of Blanca, CO; his grandchildren Alisha Marie Frazier, Becka Leigh Frazier, Cadence Abigail Frazier, Ambriana Addie Ricks, Stone Alexander Ricks, Rachel Agape Welch, Jonas Peace Welch, and Autumn Grace Welch; his sisters, Carol Vega of Peoria, AZ, Peggy Stowe, and Margaret Martin of Deming, N.M. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 2005 Mullins, Alamosa, CO, officiated by Cliff Snyder. Reception following at 1608 State Street, Alamosa, CO.
