Obituary for Albert Raymond Martinez

Valley resident Albert Raymond Martinez, 72, passed away on July 26, 2013 in Alamosa, Colorado. He was born in Denver, Colorado on April 15, 1941 to Jose Benito (Ben) and Casilda Marquez Martinez.
Albert, who was known as “Raymond”, graduated from La Jara High School in 1960 and went on to attend Adams State College. While in the valley, he has been a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Alamosa and the St. Joseph Parish in Capulin. Raymond worked in construction, and enjoyed gardening and photography.
He is survived by his siblings; Ben, Dennis, Carolyn (Larry Gallegos), Elizabeth (Ralph Lambert), Rebecca (Dan Mercier), Pauline (Young), Robert (Terri), David (Norma), Kenneth, and Janet. Also surviving are 19 nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister Cora, and brother Richard; and by his maternal grandparents Savino and Sophia Marquez, and paternal grandparents Rueben and Ermalinda Martinez; as well as his brother in law John Young.
Cremation was selected and a Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in La Jara. Interment of ashes will follow in the Capulin Cemetery.
